Preparing for Data Collection

Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI) is a face-to-face data collection method in which the interviewer uses a tablet, mobile phone or a computer to record answers given during the interview.

The Pen-and-Paper Personal Interview (PAPI) method describes any survey where the initial dataset is collected using pen and paper rather than electronic devices.

If no sampling frame exists for your population of interest, best practice is to conduct a listing. If the sampling strategy has multiple stages (e.g. clustered sample designs), multiple listings may be needed.
